    JPEG has no transparency, so clear areas are filled with this colour. PNG, WebP and AVIF keep transparency.

    Good to know

    • JPEG has no transparency: transparent areas are filled with the colour you pick, white by default.
    • WebP keeps transparency and produces smaller files than PNG in most cases.
    • AVIF is produced by a bundled encoder, so it takes longer than WebP and works in every current browser.

    Your files stay on your device

    This tool decodes and re-encodes images inside your browser using the Canvas API and Web Workers. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no server that could receive your files. Closing the tab discards everything.
